Dean The bass machine Galatas

Big Al band picture Born in Slidell, La he spent time on his uncle’s houseboat where there were always musicians playing before and after the duck hunts or partys. He moved to New Orleans where he listened a lot to the New Orleans greats, Meters, DR. John, Emile Guess. He and his brother shared a guitar until he ran across a friend needing some cash and needed to get rid of some PA and a bass, he listened to a local Jerry Pekinto, who introduced him to the bass world, and he never looked back. He’s experienced in many styles, Bluegrass, Cajun, jazz, and of course R&B and has a knack for finding the right groove with any drummer. He’s said it himself "I'm a pocket player."

His resume includes many local and national touring bands such as; Shiloh a band based out of Tennessee where he got plenty of road experience. Local bands such as; The Spartyme band consisting of his brother Dale Galatas, Emile Guess, Marty Barras, Bayou Langnaippe, Band of Bros, Abstract Revue, Don Duet and Friends, Jay B Elston band and countless others. He has shared the stage with plenty of greats such as: Gatemouth Brown his friend and one of his biggest inspirations.

He’s usually the guy to go to when someone needs a good replacement, or wants to add something special to their sound.

Whether it be Upright, 4, 5, or 6 string electric, when you see him play if you’re not hearing him you’re feeling him!
