Wayne Lohr

Wayne Alan Lohr hails from New Orleans, LA by way of Wheeling, WV. He was a former longtime member of the legendary JJ Muggler Band who opened shows for Edgar Winter, Robin Trower and countless others. Right up to going into the hospital this month (Dec 2023) he was touring and on the road with Big Al and the Heavyweights.  He was a member of the band for the last 15 years. Wayne was one of the most soulful vocalists and keyboard players ever, a true old school veteran. He performed for many years with guitar virtuoso, Bryan Lee.   

Wayne was inducted into the prestigious Louisiana Hall of Fame as part of the JJ Muggler Band as well as the Alabama Blues Music Hall of Fame with Big Al and the Heavyweights last year.  Members include everyone from Slim Harpo, Clifton Chenier, Kenny Neal to Buddy Guy.  

Wayne was a songwriter, and he penned some of the songs recorded by Big Al and the Heavyweights including “Hurricane,” and “Spanish Moss” along with many co-writes, Big Old Rusty Car (Co-wrote), Love So Fine, World Full of Trouble, Two Wrongs Don't Make a Right, Testify, Mother Trucker (Co-wrote w Al Lauro) just to name a few.  Hurricane is to the left, but we will have better videos for you coming soon.  We will all miss you so much Wayne!   Wayne was rumored to be 68.  

Wayne is survived by his daughter.
